FOOD CHOICES

Choice Of Food:Let's take out sometimes to talk about the choices we make when feeding our children. In this age, there are lots of them!Just a walk into an average store and take a walk down the cereal aisle. This is just a meal taken once a day. There are different types of boxes and flavours. Most times we don't have the time to investigate the nutritional content of each.so,what do we do?we ask our kids,"what kind of cereal do you want?" It seems kind of a normal question. The problem is we often settle for their choices. We've ignorantly passed the ball of choice into their court. And you know what! they've got some interesting players on their sidelines .
Watching children's program on a commercial television lately, Advertisers are interested in how to sell their product to your kids not their health. Our children are presented with so much powerful messages to choose calorie-rich,nutrient-poor food. Most of these food are full of fat, sugar and salt, produce to look and taste great. The packaging is eye-catching with recognizable cartoon characters in order to attract children to this type of food. Remember when we ask a five year old child "what kind of cereal they want?" nutritional content is not a factor to go them.
Fine and good, this will sure make our kid happy, but the problem is, what makes them happy for the moment  doesn't make them healthy for the long term.Giving in to their choices once or twice is not a problem. When they dictate what they eat over and over again,it is.Children do not understand about nutrition and the role it plays in their physical development .If left alone ,many would prefer to eat sweet and fat all day.
Our growing body as design by God is an intricate organism to transform a person from an infant into adult .This does not only takes great deal of time and energy,It takes a great deal of nutrition.A young body is under construction and requires materials necessary for complete assembly.Children are the best  judge of when they are hungry, but not the best judge of what to eat. When we make good food choices, children learn what is good to eat and why.Remember much of the food processed today may look and taste better, but it certainly isn't better for you.

  4. When I was growing up there was no discussion on food, I used to eat whatever my mother would cook that week. On Saturdays we usually had french fries and steak, and I was always looking forward to that.

  7. Great post! It is really important to think about the food we are consuming. We are forming our children with the food we give them, therefore, we should be more selective about it.

  8. This is so important. I try to avoid cereals all together for my kids. They are all filled with sugar. No kid needs to start their day loaded up with sugar.

  14. Cereal shouldn't be the staple breakfast for kids. They should eat healthier food with less sugar, especially at a young age. That way, they will develop a habit of eatong healthy.
